Though I live in Mumbai but most of my schooling and professional education was done in Delhi. So I have a few of my friends in Mumbai who also studied in Delhi along with me. Last week we decided to go to Delhi from Mumbai to enjoy a fine time together and further explore the capital city.

We were very excited as we were going to meet our college friends in a get together at Delhi after a long time. As we wanted to bring down the cost of travel considerably so decided to book tickets on the H Nizamuddin Garib Rath (12909).

Travelling On The H Nizamuddin Garib Rath Mumbai to Delhi Train

From the many Mumbai to Delhi Train, we chose H Nizamuddin Garib Rath, which is an AC three-tier train, and was very comfortable. It was a day long journey and as we were in an AC three tier coach we were able to enjoy comfortable travel, singing songs and playing antakshri. We were served delicious food and along the journey, we enjoyed looking into beautiful scenery and lush forested area.

As the train was air-conditioned, we did not feel the heat of the climate and as a result there was no tiredness throughout the journey. The train crossed states Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh before it entered into Delhi and finally stopped at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Station.

As it is Superfast Express, through it was covering 1366 kilometers it was able to make the journey quickly, with a minimal of just seven stopovers.  We got down at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Station and opted for a cab service to take us to the hotel where accommodation had been booked.

Our Stay Was In a Posh Serviced Apartment in the Capital City called Evergreen Suites Defence Colony

As we wanted to relive our old college days so our stay was in famous Evergreen Suites Defence Colony, which offered a very posh and sophisticated environment where we were provided with the latest living comforts and facilities. The designer interiors of the apartment enabled us to have a comfortable stay.

With plush bedding, stylish attached baths, large LCD television, safe, coffee or tea make and wi-fi access, there was no room for any more facilities. We cooked in the apartment when we would and at other times, we ate delicious cuisine outside at some of the many popular restaurants and eateries in Delhi city.

Sightseeing Delhi City, Spending Time Together and Return

During our time in the city, we visited a few of the key places of interest. We stopped over at India gate, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, Bahai Temple, Lodi Gardens and many other such locations.

All along the many places that we visited, we also stopped over at restaurants and road side eateries to enjoy our fill of local delicacies that left us wanting for more.  Our sightseeing was done by cab as it was the quickest means of reaching far flung places in the city. After three days of hectic sightseeing and shopping, we got ready to leave back to Mumbai via train.
